Core concepts

Dimensions, sampling, the 50 response minimum and how readings are summarised.

Dimensions

Moyo measures six dimensions: mood after use, time well spent, intent match, ability to stop, real-world connection and spending comfort. Each has fixed, published wording.

The wording is fixed in the sense that matters: it is a constant in the Moyo build, not a row in your account that could be edited. You choose which dimensions are enabled. You cannot change what they ask.

Sampling

A check-in is shown to a random share of sessions, after a set number of minutes in the session. The sampling decision is made on Moyo’s servers, so a page cannot raise its own rate. Up to 3 questions are drawn per check-in.

How often one person is asked

At most once every 7 days. That is enforced two ways: a flag the check-in writes on your own origin, and a short-lived fingerprint held by Moyo. Neither is a durable identity, which is the point — a cap that truly held for a person would need one.

Because the server-side fingerprints are salted and the salt rotates weekly, with two salts live at a time, the real suppression window is 7 to 8 days rather than exactly 7. Someone who clears site data, changes browser or changes network can be asked again sooner. We would rather state that than imply a guarantee we cannot keep.

Minimum group size

A dimension is not shown until it has 50 responses in the selected period. This applies to the dashboard, the API and the public certificate, because it is applied once when a reading is computed: below the minimum, no distribution, index or split is stored at all, so there is nothing downstream to leak.

Periods are whole weeks

An answer stores the ISO week it was given in and no timestamp. That is what makes an answer impossible to place in time, and it has a consequence worth knowing: a period is a whole number of weeks. "Last 30 days" is the last four complete ISO weeks plus the week in progress. 7d is the previous complete week plus the current one, and 90d is thirteen plus the current one.

Readings

Distributions are the primary reading. The 0 to 100 index is the mean answer rescaled, shown as a secondary summary with its n and period, for example 70/100 · n=1,004 · last 30 days.

Trends

A trend is eight weekly points, and each point is the index over the trailing period as of that week — not that week’s own index. The last point is therefore today’s number. A point is withheld when its own trailing window is under 50 responses, which is why a chart can have gaps in it rather than a line drawn through nothing.
